One of our writers highlighted a used Tesla Model S costing just $9,000 in an article this week. One of our readers, “jonesey,” responded with the following insight:

“If you don’t want a Tesla, I currently see 89 (eighty-nine) Volkswagen ID.4 EVs available in the US for under $25K, which is the threshold for the federal tax credit, which can be passed through to the dealer if you do not have enough federal tax liability. Now that it’s 2025, the 2023 model year is eligible. Your state may also have a credit or rebate. I purchased an ID.4 in 2024 for $16K, including the rebates, and now I drive with no emissions!

“I searched on autotrader, but use the car search site of your choice. Take the EV plunge! Tell your friends. They are available for very reasonable prices.”

It’s been a long time since we highlighted potential used electric car sales, and this comment made me realize it’s time for another one! Let’s look at 6 good deals I found searching in my region of Florida on autotrader.

Volkswagen ID.4

There are several ID.4s for sale in the mid to low $20,000s. The lowest I see in my region is a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S with 27,844 miles on it for just $21,495 — and that’s before including the $4,000 tax credit on used EVs that is still available at the moment. Not too shabby!

Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV

Yes, I know, the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV are different models, but I’m lumping them together — choose the size that fits best for you.

Being one of the top selling electric cars in the United States, as well as the oldest long-range semi-affordable electric model on the US market, it should come as no surprise that there are a lot of options here. In fact, there are too many options. It’s hard to choose one of them as “the best deal.” So, I’m including several great options I found here:

  • 2019 Chevrolet Bolt LT — 20,335 miles — $12,998
  • 2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT — 26,665 miles — $13,997
  • 2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT — 15,977 miles — $16,750
  • 2021 Chevrolet Bolt LT — 23,706 miles — $12,699
  • 2021 Chevrolet Bolt LT — 31,847 miles — $15,588
  • 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Premier w/ Infotainment Package — 19,631 miles — $18,988
  • 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV LT w/ Driver Confidence Package — 23,463 miles — $17,995
  • 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV LT — 9,429 miles — $18,198
  • 2023 Chevrolet Bolt LT w/ Driver Confidence Package — 9,193 miles — $19,358

Ford Mustang Mach-E

I’l admit it — I’m a sucker for the Mustang Mach-E. I love how the crossover looks, I love the idea of reaching into Ford’s most famous and coolest roots and electrifying the Mustang, and I think Ford did a pretty good job on this EV effort. Like the other models here, there are a number of good used options, but how about this one: only 5,574 miles, a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select w/ Comfort Package Lite, for just $27,987. (Unfortunately, note that this one isn’t eligible for the $4,000 tax credit, as the vehicle has to cost $25,000 or less, but maybe you could negotiate them down. Or perhaps you can find a Mustang Mach-E for $25,000 or less in another market.)

Hyundai IONIQ 5

There are a several Hyundai IONIQ 5 options just above $25,000, but if you want that $4,000 tax credit, there’s just one Hyundai IONIQ 5 underneath that price. That would be a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE w/ Cargo Package … with 42,363 miles on it. But, with a price of just $19,995 before the tax credit, that’s a wicked good deal.

Hyundai IONIQ 6

There’s also one Hyundai IONIQ 6 low enough in price to be eligible for the $4,000 tax credit. The IONIQ 6 is probably underrated a bit, and it looks like a very cool and futuristic sedan. What’s shocking is I found a 2024 model for just $23,484! Yes, it has 28,901 miles on it, but still … that’s an excellent price for a 2024 model year IONIQ 6.

Kia EV6

If you’re considering the new electric Hyundai models, then you’ve got to consider the EV6, too. This has various ingredients that should make it competitive with the top selling car in the world — the Tesla Model Y. I found a few models under $25,000, and several with more miles just above that marker, but here’s the one I’d highlight: 26,090 miles, 2022 Kia EV6 Wind, for just $21,998. Yes, please!

Depending what you are looking for, there are many, many more good options out there. If you are interested in a lower-cost used electric car, you actually have options now! Which of these deals — or other deals you’ve seen — stand out to you the most?
