DURANT, Okla. & MILPITAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–360 Broadband, a seasoned internet service provider covering three southern states, and Tarana, creator of next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology, today shared a progress update on their ngFWA-powered broadband network in Oklahoma. Now just nine months into deployment, 360 Broadband has connected more than 1,600 homes and businesses with reliable, high-speed internet — a few hundred of which are brand new locations they weren’t able to serve with legacy fixed wireless equipment.
Tarana’s G1 broadband platform is the world’s first instance of ngFWA. Overcoming long-fought industry challenges, G1 maintains high performance despite radio interference and physical obstructions amid the wireless link, enabling internet service providers to deliver fiber-class service with wireless network economics. 360 Broadband is one of more than 250 operators globally that are leveraging ngFWA to optimize their networks and grow their businesses.
Not only is the technology’s unprecedented performance in challenging environments enabling the 360 team to cover hundreds of previously unreachable locations with quality broadband, but it has also allowed them to improve their service offerings at scale.
Earlier this year, they highlighted Tarana ngFWA’s capabilities in a brief demo video. One rural customer had service speed limited to just 22 Mbps on a 3GPP broadband solution — with Tarana, their service improved to 340 Mbps. Another ngFWA link featured in the video delivered 220 Mbps despite thick trees that rendered the 4.4-mile connection fully non-line-of-sight (NLoS).
Additionally, several local businesses are leveraging 750×100 Mbps service on 360 Broadband’s ngFWA network in unlicensed 6 GHz. The owner of Taco Casa Durant shared, “360 Broadband has transformed how we operate. The consistent, high-speed connection with Tarana technology ensures our team can focus on serving up great food without worrying about internet issues.” Each of these customers reports full satisfaction with their Tarana-backed service and 360 Broadband is seeing record-low subscriber churn.
Dustin Reid, Director of Business Development at 360 Broadband, shared, “We’re growing our market share with Tarana ngFWA. Not just improving service speeds and expanding our wireless range, we’re also gaining net new business from people cutting the cord with cable providers — and even seeing customers switch to us from Starlink due to its latency issues.”
Basil Alwan, Tarana’s CEO, added, “We are very pleased to see 360 Broadband’s growth with ngFWA. We admire the team’s dedication to their customers and are proud to be helping them reach the un- and underserved in their communities more efficiently.”
